How To Help

Community Veterinary Outreach is a servant leadership-based organization. Our role is to help support and our volunteers to achieve their individual goals for this experience.
Thank you to all volunteers for your time and commitment. We rely entirely on your support for the Community Veterinary Outreach programs and services, and only through your continued dedication have we been able to help those in need.
Last year, over 5,000 hours were donated by veterinarians, students, veterinary technicians, vet assistants, trainers, groomers, human health partners, and members of the community in Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Kelowna, Halifax, and Vancouver.

Volunteering Info

If I cannot volunteer at a clinic or Pet Fair, what else could I do?

Contribute unopened food or new or gently used pet supplies. We also welcome new supplies for humans- socks, backpacks, gloves, warm hats, and toiletries are all needed and gratefully received.

Who can volunteer with Community Veterinary Outreach?

For our preventive care clinics (delivery of vaccines, deworm, microchip placement, etc):

Most volunteers are veterinary health professionals, including veterinarians, veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, or students in one of these programs. We also need intake and registration volunteers, groomers, photographers, and dog trainers to help serve pet owners at our clinics. All clinics have human health partners and services present, and One Health guides are also required.

For our pet fair events:

These are events that do not have vaccines or medical care provided. Stations including grooming, nail trims, veterinary advice, pet dental advice and supplies, and microchip placement at some events. All clinics have human health partners and services present. Veterinarians, technicians, groomers, dog trainers and animal behaviour volunteers, registration volunteers, and One Health guides are all required.

We invite social workers and health care workers to join our outreach clinics and pet fairs. It’s an excellent opportunity to engage clients in services.

What age do you have to be to volunteer with Community Veterinary Outreach?

To volunteer with us you must be 16 years of age or older.
