Dr. Samantha Salter

Whitehorse, YT

Samantha Salter graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2012 and immediately moved north to practice at a mixed animal clinic in Whitehorse, Yukon. In order to pursue her passion for supporting people and their pets through upstream interventions and ecosystem approaches to health, she attended the University of British Columbia to complete a Master of Public Health. Since graduating in 2016, she has worked in a variety of roles in public health and the health system, including as a health research analyst, program evaluator, epidemiologist, and program manager. She continues to work as a locum in small animal medicine and officially became a regional director with Community Veterinary Outreach in 2022.

Samantha is excited to build relationships and partnerships with Yukon First Nation Governments, non-profits, and health and social service providers, to increase access to veterinary and human health services for underserved populations in the Yukon, and give back to this beautiful territory she calls home. When Sam isn't working or volunteering, she loves mountain biking, hiking, fishing, paddling, camping and snowboarding with her husband, Josh, and her friends.
