THANK YOU

Your submission has been received. Please see below to find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Are you a pet owner seeking care for your pet?

Thank you for contacting us about your pet’s needs. We would like to help.

  1. If this is an urgent or emergency problem, you should contact the nearest veterinary clinic / veterinary emergency hospital and have your pet seen. Because we are volunteer-run, we cannot respond to emergency or urgent requests.
  2. For preventive care (shots, worm medicine, microchip, spay/ neuter), referral to a One Health veterinary clinic must be done through an agency or case worker associated with Vet Outreach within your region. Agencies include community health centres, mental health agencies, youth services agencies, shelters, and others. A disability or social assistance support worker alone cannot make the referral. If you do not have an agency for referral, please reach out to a local community health centre that is associated with Community Vet Outreach for help. They can contact us. We cannot respond to requests directly from clients.
  3. If this is about non- urgent medical care (example: dental issues, other illness), Community Veterinary Outreach does not provide medical care in most regions. Your case worker must reach out to Vet Outreach with specific details. We cannot respond to requests directly from clients.
  4. If you are an existing Vet Outreach client that has attended our clinics or received services previously, please contact your case worker with your inquiry, and they will contact us. We cannot respond to requests directly from clients.
Do you wish to donate pet food or pet supplies to Community Vet Outreach?

Thank you for offering or already donating pet supplies or other items to Community Veterinary Outreach.

We are incredibly grateful for your support. We accept unopened and non- expired pet foods and treats, and new or gently used pet supplies of all types (bowls, cat litter, cat pans, leashes, collars, blankets, beds, and carriers). We are unable to accept opened drugs that have left a veterinary clinic, anything expired, or opened pet food or treats. Location of drop off for donated supplies and food varies with region. Ottawa donations can be dropped off at Ottawa Veterinary Hospital (900 Boyd Av); for other regions, email info@vetoutreach.org.

Are you a case worker or affiliated with an agency, and have questions about Vet Outreach?

Thank you for reaching out on behalf of your clients and their pets.

All clients that are referred to Community Veterinary Outreach for veterinary and human health services must be referred by an agency / case worker affiliated with Community Veterinary Outreach within the region of the inquiry. These would include community health centres, mental health agencies, youth services agencies, and shelters, among others. A disability or social assistance support worker alone cannot make the referral; we also require the agency affiliation. If your client does not have this affiliation for referral, please reach out to a local community health centre that is associated with Community Vetreach for assistance. They can then contact us.

Do you wish to donate funds to Community Veterinary Outreach, or have questions about donating?

Thank you for inquiring about donating funds to Community Veterinary Outreach.

Please go to vetoutreach.org/donate to make a donation online. If this is an inquiry about tax receipts, where funds are used, or other donor-related inquiries, please contact us at info@vetoutreach.org.

Do you wish to volunteer with Community Vet Outreach?

Thank you for inquiring about volunteering with Community Veterinary Outreach.

Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older, and cannot be currently receiving services for their pets through Community Veterinary Outreach. Please visit vetoutreach.org/volunteer-info to sign up and provide your volunteer waiver form. Once these forms are submitted, you will receive receipt acknowledgement and be added to a mailing list to receive notification about upcoming clinics in your region.
